SEARCHING FOR THE NAME OF THE SHIP THAT MY GREATUNCLE JOHN PINK PERKINS LEFT SWEDEN ON IN 1884/85 TO RETURN TO ENGLAND.
HE LEFT FROM GOTEBORG AS FAR AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SWEDISH INFO. SERVICES & WOULD HAVE LANDED IN HULL OR GRIMSBY.
HIS FAMILY LIVED IN HUNSLET, LEEDS, YORKSHIRE.
HE FATHERED A DAUGHTER IN AMMEBERG - ALICE CECILIA PERKINS - 1884
UNMARRIED MOTHER(MY G-GRANDMOTHER)CHARLOTTA WILHELMINA JOHANSSON NEE WILHELMINA CHARLOTTA ANDERSSON BORN IN SKANNINGE, OSTERGOTLAND 1865.
MOTHER'S NAME - MARIA CHARLOTTA ANDERSDOTTER OF MARBACK PARISH
FATHER'S NAME - JOHAN AUGUST ANDERSSON OF ASBO PARISH.

because there they can help you better, there are also every parish and town inside... about Skänninge, Östergötland, I have lived there some years, very beutiful and one of the oldest cities in Sweden.

Wow, you are from my g-grandmother's birthplace! Very Cool!!!

When you are at home could you scan me a photo of Skanninge? That would be awesome!

Where do you now live in Sweden?
Have you ever been to Canada?
I want to go there one day soon to visit the towns of my family's heritage.
I hope I will have that opportunity.

My birthday was on the 8th just passed - I turned 50 - but all say I look 35.
I still wear my hair long ( with just a few strands of gray) & wear long skirts.

I am single & enjoy gardening, family history, sewing, foreign policy, nature, guitar, songwriting & 'Period' movies like 'The Man in the Iron Mask' & 'Pride & Prejudice' (color version)with Jennifer Ehle & Colin Firth.

This is just a little about me, so you know who you are emailing.

Though British/Swedish descent, I was born in Somalia.

MARIA DIED IN AMMEBERG IN 1904. MARIA WAS MY GG-GRANDMOTHER.

Layna, I am sorry... I only mean that you also can ask this question on the swedish website "Nättidningen Rötter", because I believe they can better help you. Many of us are specialist in the own area, like Skänninge or another place in Sweden. But can not so much about another areas. About Skänninge, I am not born there, but around 70-80 kilometers from this middelagetown... in Norrköping. I lived in Skänninge 1993-1994 and 1997, but before I ´have lived in Motala and Vadstena, near Skänninge... 15 kilometers from there. Vadstena are famous town because Saint Birgitta started her first monstery (birgittinerorden) in this town, in Skänninge you had another monesteries, called dominikanorden, two cuoples. The first swedish "writer" lived in this town... Petrus de Dacia and in Skänninge you have a famous churchmeting the year 1248.

and in the part call "sök" in swedish (search in english)... turism you will find many pictures of Skänninge, today one part of the town district Mjölby. Hammar in Närke are only 60-70 kilometers from Skänninge, near the lake Vättern.
